Joe Waller

A massive lover of soulful singer-songwriters from a young age, Joe would sing along to every track in the car on the way to school or a football match. When he turned 20 years old he thought about learning to play an instrument and one drunk Christmas evening bought a guitar for £65. Learning to play it began with a couple of minutes a day and progressed to more, but he just couldn’t get to grips with remembering each chord. Only when he began singing while playing did the learning became easy.

6 months after buying that guitar he played his first gig to a crowd of 100 people supporting a friend’s band. That’s when he fell in love with music and with performing. Often referred to as a natural, Joe winces because he knows the huge amount of work he’s put into learning each new song and the literal blood spillage from practising so much.

Eight months later he released his own self recorded single ‘Your Perfect Self’ on iTunes recorded with a £1 microphone bought from a car boot. The track made it to number 16 on the iTunes singer songwriter chart.
Joe’s a southern lad with both southern and northern roots. His parent left Hartlepool and Margate to collide in Hampshire. His music reflects all the influences of northern soul and southern folk, with his own pop preferences blended in.

He’s also become a sought-after producer and writer working with legendary singer Jocelyn Brown, renowned producer Tom Martin and indie fave GoodKid (‘super group’ formed by Swimmingly and Katie O’Conner, sister of Rex Orange County).

Ten years later he has expanded his repertoire to include EDM and power pop and released a multitude of singles and EPs. Always inspired by the fragility of human beings and loss of family, the years have given Joe a new perspective on the meaning of home, shelter and protecting those he keeps close. His lyrics have always been emotive but now they also offer comfort and hope. His production and co-write of “Shelter” by emerging artist Henry Fricker is a lifeline and sync gem as his the introspective look at himself in “Big & Grown” with GoodKid. His own “Live For the Weekend” is a fun reminder that whatever you’re going thru now, better days are coming and they will be fun, so walk through that door and strut your stuff.

Headlining sold out venues across the south of England, Joe set his sites on the rest of the world and earned major fan bases in Europe and the US. Two million streams later and he’s thinking about the artists that formed his tastes – Jessie Ware, Jon Bellion and other indie powerhouses across the globe. While the birth of his first child put touring on hold, the new unconditional love of that experience will result in an outpouring of unconditional love, sleepless nights and falling in all over again. Then it will be time for the road to sing its siren song again.
