Dr. Che Rhymefest Smith is a Chicago based writer, producer and performer who recently won a seat for Chicago’s first elected school board. 
As a multi Grammy and academy award winning co-writer for songs like  Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks” and the iconic “Glory” with Common and John Legend, Rhymefest never stopped letting his art lead the way for community discussions. 
His most recent award winning project is titled “James&Nikki; A Conversation.”
Based on the 1971 “Soul” program where the legendary poets spoke of issues many Americans are facing today, Rhymefest blended a mix of beats, rhymes and the original Nikki Giavonni and James Baldwin audio to produce one of the best HipHop albums of 2024.
